Founding Principal

The founding principal of Connery Consulting, Nancy Connery expresses her strategy succinctly. "I'm passionate about people," she says, and it's her passion for people that has fueled Connery Consulting's enormous success in helping to build many of the fastest growing technology companies in the history of the industry. Collaborating with entrepreneurs and senior executives to define their vision and build a strategic brand around talent acquisition, Nancy has helped companies including Airbnb, Dropbox, Instacart, Facebook, Medium, Twitter and Zendesk address the challenges of scaling and grow into vibrant and profitable companies. With personal attention to every project, Connery Consulting has become the premier human capital consulting practice, servicing the best of the best in technology.

Nancy has held management and operations positions in the human resources field for more than 25 years. Beginning her career in search, Nancy partnered with Marc Benioff to build two key divisions at Oracle Corporation, including Oracle's Promise, the company's first philanthropic venture. As the fifth employee of, Nancy recruited and hired more than 650 employees, and developed and built the human resources infrastructure to support the company's remarkable growth. In 2007, after a stellar run as's founding Vice President of Human Resources, Nancy founded Connery Consulting. With the idea of helping entrepreneurs with all things related to people, Nancy designed Connery Consulting to deliver a holistic approach that includes talent acquisition, strategic total rewards planning, and executive coaching for employees ranging from first-time managers to C-level executive.

Nancy is on the Board at Marin Primary & Middle School where she also chairs the development committee. She is a former member of the Board of Directors for Compass Family Services, a philanthropic organization devoted to breaking the cycle of homelessness in San Francisco.

Nancy is devoted to her family, and enjoys global traveling, outdoor activities and olives in her beer. Her mentors include Marc Benioff and her father, Dr. John R Benfield, both of whom inspired her to give 110% to everything she does. And finally, check out @ajaxthegoldenpup on Instagram.

Executive Director

Thanh and Nancy started working together in 2002 at

Thanh originally held the position of Global Compensation Manager at Salesforce, where he was responsible for the strategy, design and implementation of key reward initiatives and program. As the company grew, he was promoted to Director of Human Resources for APAC. Relocating to Asia in 2006, Thanh served as a key member of the executive team which established APAC operations and expansion, and over the course of 3 years, the region expanded from five people to 300. He returned to the Bay Area in 2008, where he served as the Director of Enterprise Sales & Services Recruitment for North America, Japan, and APAC. In 2010, Thanh came to Connery as the company's Managing Director. He oversees operations, manages a team of management and delivery consultants, and focuses on business development.

Thanh is a pragmatist; his success is partially based on the tangible experience of working from the inside of a rapidly expanding company. When he arrived at Connery, his expertise was in the process of scaling a company from an internal perspective; since then, he's applied his knowledge to develop human resources and compensation strategies at companies including AirBnb, Github, Pinterest, and Uber. “We work with companies that are positioned to be the next 20 or 30 billion dollar companies. They're the best and the brightest. It's a challenge and a reward," he says.

Thanh holds a degree in Finance and Marketing from Washington University in St. Louis at the John M. Olin School of Business, and serves on the board of Dell and Schaeffer Charitable Trust. He and his wife have two young children, an Australian Shepard and a Siberian husky named Danger and Alfred.

HR Account Manager

Lauren has worked at Connery for over half a decade and has spent her entire career in Human Resources. As a HR Account Manager, Lauren evaluates new client opportunities and is responsible for partnering with HR clients to understand and implement the specific needs of an organization. This includes performing compliance audits, creating employee handbooks, workflows, policies and programs, and dealing with general employee-relations issues. Lauren pulls from the combined expertise of the Connery team to provide a valued experience for each client.

Lauren met Nancy Connery in 2002, while working at Qik. Nancy has been her professional mentor and role model since the start of her career.

Technical Account Manager

Ale is one of Connery’s Account Managers, where she focuses on ensuring a successful partnership on each client engagement. She came to Connery in 2013 after nearly a decade of agency experience at Kforce and VonChurch. At Kforce she helped staff Fortune 500 companies in all areas of their Finance and Accounting needs. At VonChurch, Ale was Global Director of HR & Recruiting. There she recruited top talent for the digital entertainment industry and oversaw people operations - developing retention, on-boarding and internal training programs. Ale’s ability to simultaneously manage multiple clients while maintaining a high level of personal service has been a hallmark of her career, and at Connery she works closely with a diverse group of companies. Ale is also part of the executive recruitment team at Connery, successfully assisting companies with VP level and above hires for HR, Tech, Marketing, Sales, and Operations.

Ale graduated from UC Davis with a degree in Psychology. She resides in San Francisco and in her free time enjoys being active - running, biking, skiing - and spending time with her husband Ryan, son Maverick and daughter Camryn.
